THE WHAT? Beiersdorf is set to expand its production network, with the personal care giant having laid the cornerstone for a new plant in Leipzig, Germany.
THE DETAILS The company is investing 220 million euros in the new production centre for cosmetic products, with the focus aimed at innovation and sustainability.
Up to 450 million cosmetic products will be manufactured at the 32,000 m2 plant, in particular deodorants, hair sprays and shaving foams for the European market and for export.
The site will create an initial 200 jobs, with an additional logistics hub being built in the immediate vicinity.
THE WHY? As its largest investment in one location worldwide, Beiersdorf is said to be looking at future proofing its supply chain infrastructure in the heart of Europe.
